Joy In The Park highlights the importance of minding our mental health

Who Are They?

Joy In The Park is a celebration of life & highlighting the importance of minding our mental health in partnership with Cork Mental Health Foundation.

At its inaugural event in 2022, over 10,000 people were in attendance with 5,000 present at the closing ceremony. It holds a carnival atmosphere with a quirky and eclectic mix of live music, spoken word, theatre, storytelling, children’s entertainment, circus and wellness activities, alongside a delicious food market.

What Did I Do?

Linda from Joy In The Park contacted me in order to create the visual identity & branding of the celebration along with billboards, posters, maps, newspaper adverts, social media graphics, and more.

I was ecstatic to see my creations over social media, plastered across Cork City and even in the local news.

In their first event, 10,000 people were in attendance with 5,000 present at the closing ceremony

How Did I Do It?

  1. Research: Client briefing, mood-boarding, competitor analysis, target audience research, brand exploration, medium-specific research, accessibility and trend analysis.
  2. Objectives:
    1. Create a strong identity for this new event.
    2. Communicate Joy In The Park’s key values and personality.
    3. Facilitate Joy In The Park’s marketing & fundraising.
    4. Make all deliverables adaptable for multiple platforms.
    5. Create emotional connections and spread Joy In The Park’s positive message.
  3. Prototype: Moodboard and Sketching.
  4. Design: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop & InDesign.
  5. Delivery: The project was completed within 8 weeks over multiple drafts. The client received a handover session with presentation to go through the design decision making of each deliverable.

Conclusion:

Reflecting on this graphic design project, it’s incredibly rewarding to see the journey from concept to completion. Crafting visuals that capture the essence of the brand and translate ideas into a compelling narrative has been both a creative challenge and a fulfilling experience. Every detail, from the initial sketches to the final polished designs, was approached with precision and dedication.
