Independent film festival held annually in Cork

Who Are They?

IndieCork is a Cork-based independent film festival which is ran every October. They champion independent productions from Cork, from Ireland and from across the world. Great films, special experiences & some fun along the way is what IndieCork does best!

What Did I Do?

IndieCork have contacted us every summer for the past 8 years to help out with updating their website. We helped IndieCork spread the word of their festival with a clean design which ensures that viewers can find the festival information they need in an instant.

IndieCork Festival will be running this year from Oct 6 to 13, 2024, at The Arc Cinema

How Did I Do It?

  1. Research: Client meetings and phone calls, competitor analysis, existing online presence research and SEO research.
  2. Objectives:
    1. Improve their online presence via a website redesign.
    2. Enhance website user experience and responsiveness.
    3. Showcase their film programme more effectively to entice attendees.
  3. Prototype: Basic sketches then Figma.
  4. Design: Photoshop and WordPress CMS.
  5. Delivery: The project was completed within 3 months over multiple drafts. The client received a handover session with presentation to go through website maintenance and updates.

How Did I Resolve Pain Points?

  • Outdated website not reflecting the group’s creativity and positive message:
    • I redesigned the website to reflect the company’s creativity and positive message, incorporating vibrant colours, engaging visuals, and dynamic layouts.
    • I updated the website’s content to highlight the group’s values, mission, and achievements, conveying a positive and inspiring message to visitors.
  • Programs not available online, limited to in-person viewing:
    • I implemented an online platform on the website to make the group’s programs and offerings accessible to a wider audience.
    • I created dedicated pages for each program, providing detailed descriptions, schedules, and archive options for visitors to explore.
    • I utilised multimedia elements such as videos, photos, and reviews to showcase the benefits and outcomes of attending the festival.
    • I integrated secure registration and payment systems to streamline the enrolment process and facilitate online payments.
  • Lack of mobile responsiveness and sluggish loading times:
    • I optimised the website for mobile responsiveness to ensure it provides a seamless experience across all devices, including smartphones and tablets.
    • I implemented performance optimisations such as image optimisation, code minification, and server caching to improve loading times and enhance overall performance.

"he is inventive and skilled and brings the work in on time and budget"

After the website’s redesign, we’ve seen a notable boost in overall performance, an increase in successful program downloads, and heightened engagement with customers through a rise in inquiries. While specific figures are pending, the positive anecdotal feedback underscores the success of the redesign in enhancing user experiences and fostering meaningful interactions.
